Cernak Fuel Company has been continuously owned and operated by the Cernak family since it began in 1935 with John Cernak making local deliveries of petroleum products as a one truck operation. In 1957, John sold the business to his brother, Michael Cernak. "Mike" or "Mickey" made some additions as the business grew. He built a shop adjacent to the truck garage in 1967 and installed a bulk fuel storage facility in the 1970s and 1980s. He felt that it was important for customers to have service in the event of an emergency, and started an in-house service department. In 1987, Mike sold the business to two of his five children. Today, five oil trucks deliver heating oil and diesel fuel to customers throughout much of Western Massachusetts. The use of devices such as cell phones, two way radios, computers, service testing equipment, (among others), has provided Cernak Fuel with the means to better serve its customers with greater accuracy and efficiency. Technology has also lent itself to expansion. In 2008, Cernak Fuel launched an initiative to deliver oil to the upper Pioneer Valley; oil heat customers warmly embraced the opportunity to purchase heating oil and diesel fuel at a comparatively lower price from Cernak Fuel, an established dealer with a reputation for being friendly, personable, and efficient. In 2010, Cernak Fuel expanded its fuel delivery area in the lower Pioneer Valley to include Chicopee and South Hadley. Cernak Fuel also installs new, state-of-the-art, heating equipment in Hampshire and Hampden Counties. Five service vans are equipped with a large inventory of burner parts. Each burner technician is licensed in the state of Massachusetts. Emergency burner service is available for Cernak Fuel heating oil customers in Hampshire and Hampden Counties, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. For our customers in Franklin County, we have networked with independent service companies to provide 24 Hour Emergency Service with cost effective, local, service technicians. When it comes to oil companies, size matters and experience counts! Cernak Fuel is small enough to treat customers individually-not as a number in a computer. Chandler Architectural Products started in 1954 when a man named John Chandler founded J.L. Chandler Company in West Springfield, Massachusetts. It was a modest company specializing in store fronts, glass & glazing and mirrors. Together with his foreman Alden Taylor, they created a company known for its fine workmanship and service. In 1956 the company was incorporated and Alden became part owner and in 1961, Alden’s youngest son Chick Taylor decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and joined the company as a glazier. The Chandler Company contined to grow and built a reputation based on impeccable workmanship, attention to detail and a dedication to service. In 1965, John decided it was time to retire and Chick Taylor purchased the company. Together, he and Alden put the company on track for the future. They grew the company to what is now known as Chandler Architectural Products and their projects grew larger and more complex. In 1993, Chick brought in the next generation by hiring his son-in-law Andy Mele as a Project Manager. Andy brought years of managerial experience with him and a great vision for bringing Chandler into the 21st century. In 2010, Chick semi-retired and Andy became President of the company. What began as a modest glass company is now one of the largest and most respected in the industry. Lyon Aviation Lyon Aviation, Inc. was founded in 1982 by Lynn Lyon and his wife Shirley. James Milton Gill founded the company after purchasing the patent for a new handcuff design that would revolutionize the law enforcement profession. The inventor was George Carney.
